Brave New Culture announces the organization of the “4th Lemesos International Documentary Film Festival”. With a program full of activities and with a first class selection of award winning documentaries, the new edition of the ‘Lemesos International Documentary Film Festival’ will take place between the 5th and 9th of August 2009 at the B’ Municipal Market (Theatro Ena) in the seaside town of Lemesos, Cyprus. The festival is sponsored and supported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, Media Desk – Cyprus, the Municipality of Lemesos, the Embassy of Netherlands in Cyprus and other private and public institutions.

With movies selected from the most current international production and cover a wide range of contemporary documentary language, the ‘Lemesos International Documentary Film Festival’ functions as the main platform for presenting creative documentaries in Cyprus. All documentaries comprising this year’s festival are distinguished by the investigative, analytical, delightful and consciously mindful gaze of their creators. A total of sixteen films will be screened, most of which have been awarded prizes in significant international festivals and competitions. Some of the directors and producers of these films will attend the festival in order to introduce their films to the public and take questions after the screenings.

In addition and in the context of the festival’s parallel activities, a new pitching initiative is being launched entitled DocsTalk,Cyprus. The initiative is directed exclusively to professional directors and producers and it provides the perfect place for documentary filmmakers to meet potential production investors and production partners.

At last but not least, another side event which is been organized and is expected with great interest is an audiovisual performance entitled Yannis Kyriakides meets Jean Rouch: An audiovisual performance…
In this unique performance Yannis Kyriakides will create new soundtracks for three films of the renown French filmmaker and anthropologist Jean Rouch.
